11 Game Ideas For Pinoy Christmas Parties

1. Bite the Bag

A game to test your flexibility and balance, Bite the Bag is the total opposite of Limbo Rock. In Limbo Rock, players bend backward and pass under a stick, but in this game, players should bow down and stoop for the paper bag. To win this game, each player must bite and lift up an upright paper bag by stooping with only one foot to balance.

2. Beer Pong (Iced Tea Pong for Non-alcoholics)

This popular beer game can also be appropriated for the holidays. If you’re not into liquors, try Apple Cider drink, or Bitter Gourd Shake to make it really challenging. To play this, just follow the mechanics below:

Prepare:

  • 8ft table
  • 2 sets of 6-10pcs. 16 oz. Cups
  • Beverage of your choice
  • 4 Ping-pong balls (2 for each team)

Mechanics:

  1. Fill each cup with ¼ of beverage and arrange it in pyramid of 6 or 10 cups on each end of the table.
  2. Form two teams and decide who goes first.
  3. Take turns throwing the ping pong balls into the opponent’s cup
  4. If your shot lands on a cup, the opponent must drink its content.
  5. Keep playing until one team has no cups remaining.

3. Act and React (A Twist to Charades)

This is not your typical kind of charade. Here you don’t act a phrase or sentence, in this game you “react” to the “event” you picked and your teammates guess what you are reacting to.

Prepare:

  • Give each player a sheet of paper.
  • Ask them to write occurrences or events such as:
    • You won a Lottery
    • You saw a ghost
    • You’re hiding from a creditor
    • Your crush just passed by
  • Once everyone’s done, fold the papers and put them inside a bowl.

Mechanics:

  1. Group yourselves into two teams
  2. Team A chooses the “occurrence” listed by Team B and vice versa.
  3. Let Team A play the game first.
  4. Each member of the team will take turn to reaction to the event he picked. The key here is to do some grotesque movements and exaggerated expressions.
  5. While the first member of Team A is acting out, his teammates must guess the occurrence he is reacting to.
  6. Set a time for each team, say, 5 minutes. The team must guess the highest number of events within 5 minutes. They can economize their time by saying “pass” to an event they can’t guess.
  7. Keep scores and the team who has the most guess wins.

4. Spelling Bee with a Twist

This game is a test of creative thinking…and the number of things you have with you because players have to spell out a word with the items that they got.

Prepare:

  • Easy to spell words

Mechanics:

  1. You can play this game by teams or individuals.
  2. Players must only use the items they have with them, you can allow them to grab their bag for this game.
  3. The game master cites a word and players must spell the word with the first letter of the name of items they have with them Example, to spell “Eggs” E-earrings, G- garters, G- gloves, S- shoes.
  4. Players can use the proper/common names of items, the brand and its color.
  5. The first player to spell the word gets a point.
  6. Keep a scorecard and the person who earns the highest points wins.

5. Card Hunt

This is a game of speed, strategy and teamwork. Card hunt is a good icebreaker to get all your guests ready for the party ahead.  The goal of this game is to look for the card missing on a 52-card deck.

Prepare:

  • Decks of cards (1 per team)
  • Exclude Jokers and take away 1 card per deck
  • Shuffle the decks well

Mechanics:

  1. Group players into team. A minimum of two teams
  2. Assign one deck per team.
  3. In 1 ½ minute, each team must identify the missing card.

6. Ice Tray

Make your Christmas party extra chilling by playing with Ice. Better be prepared to get wet and dirty with this fun and exciting game.

Prepare:

  • Trays of ice cubes (one for each team)

Mechanics:

  1. Form 2 teams, with an equal number of members.
  2. Assign 1 tray of ice per team.
  3. To win this game, a team must thaw all the ice on the tray, in the shortest possible time.
  4. A player must only thaw an ice for 5 seconds or less, after which he must pass on the ice to his teammate.
  5. Players cannot stamp on it or put it inside their mouth or use other materials.
  6. First time to melt all the ice wins.

7. Match Maker

Prepare:

  • 18 colored coated chocolates (6 red, 6 blue, 6 yellow)
  • 21 Cups
  • 4 cups

Hide the 18 chocolates beneath 18 cups, and place them on a table.

Designate a cup for each color at a separate table.

Mechanics:

  1. Player must turn over the cup and transfer the chocolate into the cup assigned for its color.
  2. The goal is to transfer the chocolates to its designated cup
  3. The fastest player to finish this game wins.

8. Hangnails (using Flat head Roofing Nails )

Prepare:

  • Strings
  • Flat head Roofing Nails (3 pieces per player)
  • Tie the string tightly in two poles.

Mechanics:

  1. In one minute, players must hang 3 nails on the string.
  2. The first team to accomplish the task wins

9. Rapid Fire

Prepare:

  • Empty soda cans (6 cans per team)
  • Rubber bands
  • Stack 6 empty cans into pyramid.
  • Players must be 3 meters away from the cans.

Mechanics:

  1. Players must target the pyramid cans with rubber bands
  2. The first player to turn down all the cans, wins.

10. Picnic Pyramid

Prepare:

  • Paper plates
  • Empty soda cans

Mechanics:

  1. Using the paper plate and soda cans, players must build an inverted pyramid with 1 can as the base and 4 cans at the top.
  2. The inverted pyramid must stay up for 3 seconds.
  3. The first team to finish the game wins

11. On the Hook

Prepare:

  • Paperclip
  • Chopsticks
  • 3 Keys
  • String
  1. Make a makeshift rod by tying one end of the string onto the chop stick, and the other one onto the paper clip.
  2. Open one tip of the clip to make a hook.
  3. Place the keys on the table, with its head slightly protruding from the edges just enough to keep the key hole open.

Mechanics:

  1. Players hold chopsticks on their mouth
  2. The goal is to hook 3 keys using the makeshift rod.
  3. The fastest team to complete the game, wins
